Santa Fe Weaving Gallery has expanded upon its track record as a leading showcase of Art-to-Wear to move in the more contemporary artisanal style category. We merge the best of Artwear with the increasing edge that we find in small designer collections across the US, into Japan, England & Iceland. Special Textile Tours let us share our enthusiasm for traditional and contemporary Asian textiles.

Whenever you are in Santa Fe, plan to visit our gallery!

Folk Art Market coming

Like so many businesses this year, we have been cautious in placing orders with artists for garments and accessories this year; we are being more careful to make sure that we get what we think that you, the collector, will want. How is this different than past years? In past years, we have placed a "broader brush order" to showcase the artists' voices in depth. This summer and fall, we are distilling down to what we think are the very best pieces in an artist's offering. We will let you be the judge of whether or not we did a good job of interpreting your tastes.

We are slowly bringing in new pieces, and expect that the period of mid-July through to December will be a steady flow of the best and the brightest of Susan Riedweg, Randall Darwall, Susan Neal, Joyce Wilkerson, Pat Farley, Doshi, and others.

In the next week, we welcome about 30 out-of-town gallery collectors to share the delights of Santa Fe, specifically to take advantage of Folk Art Market (www.folkartmarket.org). We will have special presentations by Laos textile artisans from Ock Pop Tok and Rick Hall of San Miguel de Allende's Zocolo Gallery (paper mache and woodblock prints), etc. In honor of this gathering, we will post selected tops, outfits, scarves from Darshan Shah, one of Calcutta, India's finest textile entrepreneurs. If you take a look at our Trunkshow page (www.santafeweavinggallery.com/trunkshow), today and through 7/13/08, we will be adding pieces for purchase. Darshan's collection is from her workshop in Calcutta where they specialize in dyeing, weaving, kantha embroidery, shibori-dyeing, felting, block printing. They work in silk, cotton and lightweight wools. Please enjoy looking and call with questions.

Coming up soon in the gallery:

July 8-13, Darshan Shah's array of textiles and outfits from Kolkata India, in conjunction with the Santa Fe Weaving Gallery's special events for Santa Fe's Folk Art Market

The Santa Fe Weaving Gallery seeks to showcase the work of small studio artists and designers who hew to the relevance of the handmade in a highly-fabricated world, and who push us to dress and to move through the world in an individualistic way. If you see something that catches your eye--call us quick. These are one-of-a-kind pieces, and we'll be happy to describe, give you lengths, and fit information. 866-982-1737
